Novelties in the Merano Suite were awarded the German Design Award

The Merano Chair and the Barstool were awarded the German Design Award 2015 – Special Mention. The novelties from this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile Fair in Milan build upon the successful armchair. They were designed for TON by Alexander Gufler.

“The Merano Armchair – Introduced four years ago, was awarded the Red Dot Design Award, the Good Design and the German Design Award Nominee Awards. We are very glad that the adaptation of its shapes reflected in the chair and the bar stool received well-merited attention too,” said Jan Juza, the Marketing Director at TON. Both models are simple in shape and functional. The designer´ aim was to make them look like statues in an aesthetic way; but, on the other hand, they are comfortable and practical to manipulate. Therefore, the Merano Chair and the Barstool combine a bottom part from massive wood with the harmonic bentwood shapes of of the seat and backrest. They are very light and contain no bolts or metal parts due to the manufacturing technology. The TON Company offers them in Beech, Oak, American Walnut and an upholstered model.

The German Design Award 2015 – Special Mention; is the 19th product to be rewarded for the TON Company. Apart from the Merano Suite; awards were presented to the: 911, Mojo, Tee, Tram, Wave, Rioja, Petalo, Simple and 002 models too.
