TON’s collaboration with Alexander Gufler has resulted in another Red Dot. This time for the Alba armchair.
TON has won its fourth Red Dot. The Alba armchair made a great impression on the judges for this year’s Red Dot competition, who named it the Winner in the Product Design category. Alexander Gufler, the designer of Alba, was also behind TON’s first Red Dot, awarded in 2011 for the Merano armchair.
‘Working with Alex is textbook-perfect. His products embody the ideal balance between design and functionality, in no small way thanks to the fact that Alex spends a great deal of time in his studio working out the functional details of each prototype. This way he resolves all the technical issues, so that in our two-year implementation phase we can focus fully on production quality,’ stated Jan Juza, TON’s Marketing Director. The same applies to this collection. ‘Our brand is renowned for quality work with wood. But the many domestic and international awards we have received for the Alba collection confirm that we can deliver the same level of quality with upholstered furniture. This is in great part thanks to the excellent work of our colleagues in the upholstery workshops,’ added Juza.
The Alba armchair combines timeless appeal with a range of fresh design features. ‘The unifying elements are the distinctively shaped seat and the wooden leg construction. The bottom of the backrest envelops the base of the armchair and extends well below the oval-shaped seat,’ described Alexander Gufler the key features of his collection. Next to design, Alba scores high on comfort. The armchair is upholstered with pocket springs and PUR foam. Commonly used in orthopaedic mattresses, these features allow the seat to retain its shape and withstand heavy use. This makes the armchair perfect for your home interior as well as the high demands of restaurant and hotel interiors.
