From September 10–12, 2026, CURRENTS. Design brought Berlin’s design community together across different locations throughout the city. Ton was proud to be part of the festival and to open the doors of its Berlin showroom in Mitte.
Under the title “Craft that lasts. Design that moves forward.”, we presented our current collection and invited visitors to experience Ton from different perspectives – as a manufacturer with 165 years of expertise in bentwood craftsmanship, and as a brand exploring contemporary design, longevity and a conscious approach to resources.
Design from Residual Wood: Ton × Büro Famos
A particular highlight was the evening on September 10 with Hanna Litwin, co-founder of Berlin-based studio Büro Famos. At the centre of the evening was Logs, a design by the studio created from residual wood from our chair production.
The conversation explored the design process, the possibilities of working with existing materials and how production leftovers can become the starting point for new products and ideas. Logs demonstrates how design and a conscious approach to resources can come together – not as opposing principles, but as an opportunity to develop new solutions.
Encounters at the Ton Showroom
Throughout the three-day festival, we were delighted to welcome numerous guests from the fields of architecture, interior design and contract projects to our Berlin showroom.
Alongside selected Ton novelties and classics, personal exchange was at the heart of the event. CURRENTS offered an opportunity to strengthen existing connections, meet new people from Berlin’s design community and engage in conversations about the future of design, materials and production.
For TON, taking part in CURRENTS was therefore more than a presentation of our collection. It was an opportunity to make our approach to design and craftsmanship visible and to continue the dialogue with Berlin’s design community.
